Our BC Commissioner Lynn MacKenzie recently took a trip to Scotland with family – please enjoy these photos and a brief summary of her visits to Castle Leod,  and Strathpeffer.

We arrived in Strathpeffer August 11th.  The next afternoon we met the Laird and toured a few rooms in the Castle.  There are some wonderful paintings and furniture dating back a few hundred years. We even saw the prisoner in the dungeon!  Unfortunately there are only a couple of tapestries as the most were taken by the British after the Battle of Culloden.

The following day, August 12th was the day of the Strathpeffer Highland Gathering.  Events included Heavy lifting, Highland Dancing, Piping, Hill Running, Tug-of-war, and Cycling racing on a grassfield.  The photo is of me and Alan Mackenzie on the march past the Caberfeidh.

Lastly we participated in the Edinburgh Military Tattoo – shown here is  The Clan Mackenzie gathering in Edinburgh Castle before we march into the stadium for the Edinburgh Tattoo, August 15th.
