CMSC Annual Youth Scholarship for the Highland Arts

The Clan MacKenzie Society of Canada is pleased to offer up to two (2)* $500 Scholarships to dependent children (under the age of 25) of current members of the CMSC to help with their pursuit of the highland arts. These one-time payments are meant to promote Scottish culture in Canada, by helping defray the costs of instruction or study in Highland Dancing, Piping, Scottish Drumming , Scottish Fiddling, or Scottish Gaelic Instruction This award must be applied to tuition fees and/or related costs, and will be awarded upon receipt of proof of enrolment in a camp or lessons, signed by their instructor.

Eligibility: Open to dependent children of current annual members, or grandchildren of Life members, or Junior members (ages birth to 25 years one time payment of 25.00) of the Clan MacKenzie Society of Canada Recipients must live and plan to study in Canada.

Requirements:

  • Applications must be received by June 30, 2023 to be eligible for 2023 scholarships, to be awarded by September 30, 2023.
  • Recipients MUST write a thank-you letter to the CMSC Scholarship Committee before receiving their award.
  • Recipients over the age of 18 must provide a copy of proof of enrolment in camp or lessons, signed by the instructor.
  • Recipients must be willing to provide an appropriate photo of the recipient, and obtain permission from their parent or guardian to allow the CMSC to use this photo to promote the society and its aims.**
  • Recipients must be willing to perform at one CMSC event such as Clan Tent, or Clan Meeting in the following year.  Should a recipient not live within a reasonable distance of any planned events, consideration for alternative options (such as video) may be considered. Determination will be at the sole discretion of the Scholarship Committee.

*No more than one scholarship per recipient will be awarded.

**Promotion could include, but is not limited to; using the recipients photo, along with their FIRST NAME, and CITY of RESIDENCE on the CMSC website, newsletter, pamphlets, or through social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

Note: If not the legal guardian, supporting member will be required to provide proof of guardian's acceptance of terms of scholarship.
