It was a busy weekend for the Clan MacKenzie Society of Canada, as were were well represented in both Manitoba and Alberta this weekend!

AB Commissioner Greg MacKenzie, and new member Marlin MacKenzie – Welcome Marlin!

First up, the Red Deer Highland Games – report from AB Commissioner Greg MacKenzie

A rainy morning, but what’s a Highland Games without getting a bit wet in Alberta. By mid afternoon it was sunny and warm, so that dried everything that got saturated by the rain. Acquired a new member, Marlin MacKenzie from Edmonton. Thank you and welcome to the Society.

The new tent that the Society provided worked like a charm. So thank you to the members that made it happen. The next Games will be in Calgary on September 1st at the Rugby Park in the Southeast of the city.

Until then, Tulach Àrd!

Moving a little East – The Manitoba Highland Gathering was held in Selkirk MB – report from MB Commissioner Mike MacKenzie

Mike reports that visitors have been steady at the tent today in East Selkirk. Hopefully gaining a few new members and had a wonderful chat with a distant cousin with roots in Antigonish County in Nova Scotia. Mike felt quite secure with our tent set up next to the Canadian Forces.  A little hot and windy, but a great time as usual.  The Highland Gathering is a two day event, and while a little less busy (cooler and overcast) on day two, Mike reported still a great day at the tent, and a great day to be Scottish in Manitoba!
